CDT Details Criticisms of UK Counter-Terrorism and Security Bill Draft
CDT shares our serious concerns about the failure of certain aspects of Part 5, Chapter 2 of the draft Counter-Terrorism and Security (‘CTS’) Bill to comply with fundamental democratic principles as well as the United Kingdom’s obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights (‘ECHR’) and its implementing legislation, the Human Rights Act 1998. Whilst recognising the critical importance of counter-terrorism initiatives, we believe that such programmes must always be sure to adhere scrupulously to these human rights and democratic values.
