According to a 2023 poll, only one in 10 Americans have confidence and give high ratings to the way that democracy is conducted in the United States. Nearly 50 percent of those surveyed believe our country’s democracy is flawed.
People are concerned about the state of elections, the performance of Congress, inflation, crime, and the southern border. Fear about these issues is exacerbated by rampant misinformation and disinformation.
Join the R Street Institute for an in-person and virtual panel that will provide insights and solutions to these threats to democracy. Panelists will also explain the best way to fight misinformation and disinformation before elections this year.
Keynote:
- Alexandra Givens, President and CEO, Center for Democracy and Technology
Panel:
- Brent M. Eastwood, Fellow, Technology and Innovation, R Street Institute [Moderator]
- Zeve Sanderson, Executive Director, New York University’s Center for Social Media and Politics
- Nick Penniman, Founder and CEO, Issue One
