Launch of NTIA’s Public Consultation Process on Widely Available AI Foundation Model Weights

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) invite you to an event marking the start of NTIA’s inquiry into the risks, benefits, and potential policy implications of an open ecosystem for AI foundation models. The recent Executive Order on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence tasks NTIA with preparing a report for the President discussing the implications of widely available model weights for foundation models. This event will begin the public consultation process NTIA will undertake to help develop its report.
The event will feature opening remarks from Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information Alan Davidson and CDT President and CEO Alexandra Reeve Givens, followed by an expert panel discussion with audience Q&A.
