The conference is a joint European Commission-EESC event to discuss the annual report on the application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, issued by the Commission in December 2021.

The 2021 report takes a thematic look at fundamental rights in the digital age. In addition to providing a general overview of the Commission’s report, the conference will also examine more closely the fundamental rights implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and managing social media platforms.
