Jonathan Schmidt

Jonathan Schmidt is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Democracy & Technology Europe. His work focuses on analysing the EU AI Act, with a particular focus on general-purpose AI models. He also assists with drafting the AI Bulletin newsletter and helps to formulate CDT’s AI Act implementation strategy.

Prior to joining CDT Europe, Jonathan conducted a research project on market concentration in the cloud computing sector and interned at both think tanks and start-ups. Jonathan holds a Master’s degree in Cognitive & Decision Sciences from UCL and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy & Economics from the University of Bayreuth.
