April Lopez

CHCI Public Policy Fellow

April Lopez graduated from Rutgers University in May 2020 with degrees in Marketing and Latino & Caribbean Studies. During her undergraduate career, April served as the president of UndocuRutgers, an organization that helps advocate for undocumented students and local community members. She also worked as an administrative assistant at Rutgers Student Legal Services, an office at her alma mater which provides free legal consultations to students.

During the summer of 2019, April interned at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) as a research policy analyst, where she examined the diversity initiatives of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress. As a current CHCI Public Policy Fellow, April aspires to learn from the experts at CDT and explore more in her tech policy areas of interest including algorithmic bias, commercial data practices, and individual privacy rights.
