CDT’s Morris Named to Online Safety and Technology Working Group

CDT’s John Morris has been appointed to the "Online Safety and Technology Working Group," run by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.  The working group was created under the "Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act." The 30-member working group will report on industry initatives to promote online safety through educational efforts, as well as study the effectiveness of various safety tools and practices.  The group will issue a report to the Commerce Department within a year of its first meeting. Morris was a member of the Internet Safety Technical Task Force in 2008 that convened at Harvard, following an agreement between state Attorneys General and MySpace.  That Task Force also looked at online child safety issues.
