This chart, which was part of the Federal Trade Commission's recent privacy report, provides an easy-to-follow guide on what happens to personal data online. From reading the chart, you can see that some personally identifiable information collected by retailers, such as airlines and credit card companies, is then collected by information brokers, which in turn share the information with marketers, the government, and employers.
