Coalition Urges White House to Renew CISPA Veto Promise
CDT has joined a coalition of 37 organizations in signing a letter to the White House asking it to renew its promise to veto the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA).
Didn’t require companies or the government to “minimize and protect personally identifiable information;”
Would provide companies dangerously broad legal immunity for actions they took based on information “identified, obtained, or shared” under the bill; and
Posed a significant threat to the civilian nature of the Internet.
This year, CISPA has been reintroduced with the same flaws. The message is simple: Because these concerns have not been fixed, the coalition urges the White House to stand by its promise to veto CISPA.
