Implementation of Health IT: The Payoff for the Patient?
The panel will explore the potential for health information technology to empower consumers and patients in taking greater control of their health care. Specifically, the panel will discuss whether national and California state efforts to spur greater adoption of electronic health records are sufficiently focusing on consumer/patient engagement and putting individuals at the center of care. What are the obstacles to a truly patient-centered health care system and how do we overcome them? What federal and state policies are needed to ensure consumers and patients are not left behind?
