Think of CDT on #GivingTuesday

2014-11-24 GivingTuesday, STD2

After giving thanks for all the joys around us last week, it’s time for us give special thanks to the nonprofit organizations and charities around the world. When you’re thinking about all the great organizations you’d like to give thanks to on #GivingTuesday, we’d love if you consider the Center for Democracy & Technology. It’s with your support and involvement that we are able to advance democratic values in the digital work. Specifically, donations go towards funding fellowships, growing our team of technologists, and expanding our global footprint.

Not familiar with #GivingTuesday? It’s a movement that was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations to have a day dedicated to giving back. In the words of the organizers:

“We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.”

This #GivingTuesday, we thank you for thinking of CDT. If you want more information on all the work we do to keep the Internet open, innovative, and free, check out this handy overview.

Happy #GivingTuesday to all the organizations and people advancing important social causes!
