Prom Promises to Have You Online for Good

Dust off those blue bowties and get your nerd swagger on – it’s Tech Prom season once again!

CDT’s Annual Dinner, affectionately known as Tech Prom is just one week away. Will you be there? A select number of tickets are still available, but they are going fast, so purchase today if you’ve not already done so. We will sell out!

For an event like this, we always turn to our sponsors in thanks – their support makes this event a great night and an important fundraiser for the work that CDT does to defend our digital liberties year-around. Thank you to all who are taking a leadership role.

As a reminder to our guests, the details for Tech Prom are:

When: March 29, 2018 – 5:30pm – 10:00pm

Where: The Washington Hilton; 1919 Connecticut Avenue, NW (T Street Entrance)

Attire: Business or cocktail attire will be in the majority, but if you’ve got a tux or a ballgown that you’re ready to sport, we all will be suitably impressed (pun intended).

What to expect: CDT will welcome nearly 1,000 guests from the tech policy community for an evening of great networking, delicious cocktails, and thoughtful programming. We encourage you to bring your business cards and big ideas, because this year, the theme is Online For Good. This clever little double-entendre references both the reality that technology is a permanent part of our lives, but also the choice we can all make every day to design, implement, and utilize technology in a positive way.

The evening begins with cocktails and networking in the International Concourse at 5:30pm (promptly!). We will begin the dinner and program at 7:00pm (promptly!), and will conclude with a dessert and cocktail reception at 8:30pm (we are determined to release you on time!). We hope you will stay for the entire evening.

CDT is proud to present the Digital Visionary Award to Perry Chen, Co-Founder and Chairman of Kickstarter. CDT will host a discussion with Perry on the role Kickstarter has played in leveraging technology for good during the program.

We are also pleased to welcome Michael Kratsios, Deputy Assistant to the President and the Deputy U.S. Chief Technology Officer at the White House, who will share opening remarks.

The evening will conclude with remarks from Nuala O’Connor, CDT’s President and CEO. Nuala will explore both the opportunity and responsibility we all have in the tech policy space to practice being online for good, as well as reflect on the critical moment our industry finds itself facing at present. You will not want to miss it.

Important reminders: To ensure that you have a positive experience at Tech Prom, we hope you will help us with a few details:

If you have dietary restrictions (vegetarian/Kosher/Halal), please notify CDT by Friday, March 23rd at [email protected].

If you have a mobility or other accommodation request, please notify CDT by Monday, March 26th at [email protected].

With thanks to our sponsors Lyft and Uber, we are also pleased to offer ride-sharing codes. Using either platform, this will get you $5 off your ride to or from Tech Prom – we all want to make sure you get home safely. An email will be coming shortly with more details – the codes will also be available on-site.

Other things to note: CDT’s signature drink, the Democracy Dram, will keep you warm on the inside, but hints at the spring around the corner (we hope!).
