Internet of Things

Refrigerators that reorder your groceries, cars that communicate with each other to avoid collisions, and wearable devices that monitor and analyze an individual’s daily sleep patterns are just some of the products being researched and developed in the “Internet of Things” (IoT). Essentially, IoT devices are simply any device connected to the internet, from household appliances to watches. Many of these devices have the potential to collect and share sensitive personal information and lack strong data security protections. Policymakers and technology companies must work together to ensure these devices have strong privacy and security protections.
