CDT Research Recognized at the 31st Annual Communicator Awards
The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) is proud to announce it has received two Awards of Distinction from the 31st Annual Communicator Awards, recognizing visual excellence in strategic communication. CDT’s reports — “More Tools, More Control” and “Screened Out” — received the Award of Distinction in the Print Content-Causes & Awarenesscategory for exceeding industry standards in quality and achievement.
The art direction of both reports was led by Timothy Hoagland, CDT’s deputy director of communications, design and digital, who has been with the organization for over a decade. Hoagland’s design approach translates complex research into clear, engaging, and accessible visual formats — ensuring CDT’s work resonates across policy, civil society, and public audiences.
“More Tools, More Control,” authored by Michal Luria, examined teenagers’ lived experiences online to better understand the unwanted messages they receive & the strategies + tools they use to keep themselves safe. Report was illustrated by Alanah Sarginson.
This year’s Communicator Awards celebrate the many ways in which communication creates human connection across mediums, stories, and cultures. With over 3,000 entries from across the globe, the Awards of Distinction recognize projects that go beyond industry standards, embodying this year’s theme: “Communication is Connection.”
The Communicator Awards are administered by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts and are open to all organizations and individuals producing marketing and communication work, regardless of size or budget.
