(WASHINGTON)—The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) is delighted to welcome George Slover as its new General Counsel and Senior Counsel for Competition Policy. Slover joins CDT with more than three decades of experience in antitrust and competition policy, most recently as Senior Policy Counsel at Consumer Reports.
Earlier in his career, Slover was Lead Antitrust Counsel at the House Judiciary Committee, Attorney-Advisor for Legal Policy at the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, Advisor to the Antitrust Modernization Commission, and Chief Legislative Counsel and Parliamentarian at the House Judiciary Committee.
“I am excited to be coming to CDT, a premier public interest organization I have admired for many years,” he says. “I look forward to bringing my competition policy experience to bear in helping policymakers forge an effective path for enabling much-needed competition in the online marketplace, and all the benefits that will make possible, while also ensuring that privacy, security, and other fundamental online protections can be preserved and strengthened.”
Slover is a member of the American Antitrust Institute’s Advisory Board and an elected member of the American Law Institute. He holds a BA in mathematics from Vanderbilt University, a JD from the University of Texas School of Law, and a Master’s in Public Affairs from the LBJ School.
