Increasingly, companies are implementing new worker selection procedures at every stage of recruitment and employment, often in ways that can reinforce pre-existing disparities in the job market. But employers and vendors are rarely transparent about how these tools are used, making it difficult to detect how they can discriminate against workers, and to implement the necessary safeguards to protect against harm.
To help policymakers, employers, and vendors address these issues, the Civil Rights Standards for 21st Century Employment Selection Procedures present a framework for greater accountability for use of modern methods to evaluate workers. The Civil Rights Standards represent the work of a coalition of civil rights, social justice, and tech policy organizations to provide a strong, civil-rights-focused roadmap for employment decision-making processes.
Join us on January 24 as representatives from this coalition discuss what the Civil Rights Standards are and why they are needed in the increasingly automated world of employment decisions.
