CDT CEO Alexandra Reeve Givens Speaks on U.S. Department of State Panel on Safe & Trustworthy AI

As countries around the world grapple with approaches to governing AI, the U.S. Department of State convened Heads of Mission and Deputy Heads of Mission from 90 countries for a briefing for the foreign diplomatic corps. CDT CEO Alexndra Givens Reeve spoke alongside Alondra Nelson and Jack Clark in a panel moderated by U.S. Special Representative for Global Partnerships Dorothy McAuliffe, preceded by a panel of U.S. government leaders including Ben Buchanan, Elizabeth Kelly and Seth Center, and followed by remarks from U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

The event came days before the UN General Assembly adopted a landmark resolution on the promotion of safe, secure and trustworthy AI, showing important international unity on key principles that should drive domestic and international governance frameworks going forward.
