Lisa Beatrice Ferrari is the Policy and Research Officer for the Security, Surveillance, and Human Rights Programme at CDT Europe. In her capacity, she supports CDT Europe’s work on protecting fundamental rights in the digital space, with a particular focus on surveillance accountability, encryption, and the promotion of privacy and the rule of law.
With a strong interest in the intersection of digital policy and law, Lisa Beatrice combines experience across EU institutions, consultancies, and the private sector. Before joining CDT Europe, she worked as a Public Policy Associate at Workday and, prior to that, as a Technology and Digital Economy Trainee at Burson, where, in both roles ,she focused on key tech policy files, including AI, cloud, privacy, digital fairness, and cybersecurity.
Lisa Beatrice holds an LL.M in Law and Technology from Tilburg University in the Netherlands, a European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) with a specialisation in the Economic Analysis of Innovation and Intellectual Property, and a bachelor’s degree in European Law from the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands.
Return of Mass Scanning of Private Communications through Undemocratic Procedure
CDT Europe responds to the European Parliament's vote to revive the interim derogation from the ePrivacy Directive, commonly known as “Chat Control 1.0”, which provides the legal basis for the voluntary, indiscriminate scanning of private communications for known and new Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), and for the solicitation of children.
