Tech Talk: The Glitter Army Takes On a Cyberbully
CDT’s Tech Talk is a podcast where we dish on tech and Internet policy, while also explaining what these policies mean to our daily lives. You can find Tech Talk on SoundCloud, iTunes, and Google Play.
Canada has new bully-fighting hero. She’s a journalist who also happens to be a burlesque dancer, and when she was harassed online, she and her glitter army sprung into action to fight back against the anonymous troll. Jessica Davey-Quantick joined us to talk about her experience and why she felt it was so important to take action.
And if burlesque isn’t sexy enough for you, we also talk about data deletion. Ok, so maybe this sounds a bit boring, but CDT has a new paper out that makes the case for why companies need to rethink their data practices and why the time has come to delete some of that data. Brian brings in Joe Jerome – CDT’s Policy Counsel on the Privacy & Data team – to discuss “Should it stay or should it go? The legal, policy, and technical landscape around data deletion.”
