CDT Rallies Groups to Oppose Senate Bill on Drones
Today, a coalition of 17 privacy, human rights, civil rights, and civil liberties organizations – led by the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) – sent a letter expressing opposition to S.1631, The Safeguarding the Homeland from the Threats Posed by Unmanned Aircraft Systems Act.
The coalition highlighted that the bill provides unnecessarily broad authority to bring down drones and lacks basic transparency and accountability rules, opening the door to improper grounding of drones used by journalists and protesters.
