CDT Joins Civil Society Groups’ Call on OMB and OSTP to Preserve Agency AI Use Case Inventories
Today, CDT joined 17 civil society organizations to call on the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) to preserve agency AI use case inventories.
The groups urge OMB and OSTP to ensure that agencies continue reporting detailed information about their use and governance of AI systems as a critical tool for advancing transparency, industry engagement, and efficiency in the government’s use of AI.

CDT joined AI Now Institute, American Civil Liberties Union, and several organizations dedicated to tech policy, consumer protection, and civil rights in a letter to Senate leadership and the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee opposing the “AI Innovation Labs” language in Sec. 10509 of the CLARITY Act.

Having third parties assess AI systems might seem like common sense, but crafting effective policies toward this goal can be devilishly tricky.
