As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes a more common part of everyone’s lives, how is AI impacting K-12 students and teachers? How can the use of AI in the classroom benefit and enhance student learning? What are the concerns that the education community is raising? This briefing will provide the foundational science about what we know about AI in education and how it can impact learning positively and negatively.
On July 23, 2026, join the AAAS EPI Center for a virtual policymaker briefing: AI in the Classroom: Opportunities and Risks, and State Policy Responses. A panel of experts will share scientific research evaluating the impact of ubiquitous AI tools in the hands of students, how teachers are embracing AI to enhance their classroom environment while mitigating its risks on student learning, and opportunities for local and state policymakers to support students and educators.
