Date: Friday, November 7th 2025
American Women for International Understanding (AWIU) is hosting its Ninth Annual Career Opportunities in International Relations (COIR) Symposium on Friday, November 7th, 2025. The symposium will be held on the 5th Floor of MLK Library in Washington, D.C.
The theme of this year’s symposium, “Women Building Bridges: Career Paths Amid Global Challenges,” will be explored through presentations, panels, and discussion groups.
This day-long event will feature an array of speakers, panels, breakout discussions, a complimentary lunch, and ample networking opportunities with prominent women diplomats, career State Department professionals, international organization experts, and representatives from non-profits focused on pressing global issues.
COIR events offer young women the chance to learn about careers in international affairs and engage directly with women leaders in the field.
AWIU, founded over 50 years ago, aims to promote woman-to-woman interaction and global understanding through meaningful delegation visits, small grants for community development, support for women students and young professionals, collaboration with the U.S. Department of State for the International Women of Courage Celebration, and the impactful work of local chapters acting locally and globally.
