Comments to the FCC on Proposed Ban on Use of E-Rate Funds for Additional Fiber Networks
CDT submitted comments to the Federal Communications Commissions in response to its potential rulemaking proceeding to ban the use of E-rate funds for constructing additional fiber networks when one fiber network is already in place. From our perspective as an advocate for the open, competitive internet, this proposal by incumbent broadband providers to block funds from ever being used to support new entry under any circumstances raises serious concerns and is unlikely to be in the public’s interest.
