Aaron Spitler

Research and Communications Analyst, Equity in Civic Technology Project

Aaron Spitler served as Research and Communications Analyst on CDT’s Equity in Civic Technology team. He focused on how technologies can be ethically and responsibly harnessed for the public good. He is particularly interested in how policymakers could use these tools to benefit individuals of all backgrounds.

Aaron has worked in a number of positions related to the regulation of technology. Specifically, he has been a researcher at the Berkman Klein Center and the International Telecommunication Union. He also received a fellowship from the Internet Society that allowed him to explore how encryption could uphold citizens’ rights in Kosovo.

Aaron earned his master’s degree from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, where he specialized in technology policy. Prior to enrolling, he received a Fulbright to Kosovo, enabling him to research the state of digitization in the country. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from The College of William & Mary.
