US News & World Report: Revamped USA Freedom Act Still Faces Congressional Hurdles

CDT’s Harley Geiger offers comment to US News & World Report regarding work that still needs to be done on USA FREEDOM Act.  An effective version of the Freedom Act would end domestic bulk data collection authorized by the Patriot Act, along with national security letters used by law enforcement to secretly request data from phone companies and Internet service providers, says Harley Geiger, senior counsel for the Center for Democracy and Technology.
