CDT Computer Scientist Reappointed to Internet Architecture Board

Washington—CDT Chief Computer Scientist Alissa Cooper has been re-appointed for a second term on the Internet Architecture Board (IAB).

The IAB provides architectural oversight to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), one of the world’s premier Internet standards organizations. The IETF creates and maintains core Internet protocols, including the TCP/IP protocol suite. As an IETF advisory body, the IAB serves to ensure the continued health and functioning of the Internet.

“We are extremely pleased that Alissa will be continuing on the IAB,” said CDT President Leslie Harris. “CDT is dedicated to incorporating public interest values into technical standards. This appointment reflects recognition of the importance of civil society participation in the technical development of the Internet.”

Among her responsibilities, Cooper leads the IAB’s Privacy Program, which provides guidance, raises awareness, and coordinates with other organizations to build privacy considerations into technical standards.
