Bloomberg: Obama Revives Consumer Privacy and Security Proposals

CDT’s Nuala O’Connor provides commentary for Cheryl Bolen of Bloomberg BNA’s article about President Obama’s list of data security and privacy policy legislative proposals.

The proposals and initiatives announced by the White House drew immediate praise from CDT. “For too long, it has been America’s companies taking the lead in protecting the privacy of consumers without clear or consistent guidance from government,” said Nuala O’Connor, president and chief executive officer of the CDT. “It’s time we have comprehensive privacy legislation to help build consumer trust, promote technological innovation, and create a digital framework that respects the right to privacy in our daily lives.”
