Anti-Terrorism Packages Advance in House, Senate
The House Judiciary Committee has marked up and passed the Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (PATRIOT) Act, an adapted version of the Administration's anti-terrorism package. Meanwhile, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee recently circulated a compromise package of their own, known as the Uniting and Strengthening America (USA) Act. CDT continues to have serious privacy concerns with both bills. More details and analysis are available at CDT's resource page on the Congressional response to the September 11 attacks.
