Michelle De Mooy Named CDT’s Deputy Director, Consumer Privacy Project
The Center for Democracy & Technology is excited to welcome Michelle De Mooy as our new Deputy Director, Consumer Privacy Project. De Mooy, previously with Consumer Action, is a staunch advocate for strong consumer privacy rights. At CDT, she will advance a pro-privacy agenda through legislative and policy approaches, while working with industry to build and implement good privacy practices.
With Consumer Action, De Mooy worked with federal agencies, industries, and privacy advocates to build innovative and practical solutions to privacy problems, focusing primarily on harms associated with underrepresented communities. She has also worked with M + R Strategies as a senior consultant on eCampaigns, leading efforts for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and The Wilderness Society.
De Mooy was also involved in the early days of the first dotcom boom, having developed software and website projects for numerous startups in San Francisco.
