Letter to Minnesota Legislature On “Kill Switch” Mandates
The Minnesota Legislature recently considered HF 1952, legislation introduced to respond to the serious problem of smartphone theft through the mandatory installation of a “kill switch” in smartphones, a measure CDT has spoken out against in the past as both ineffective and problematic. On March 14, CDT submitted the following letter to the Minnesota Legislature outlining concerns regarding kill switch mandates in general, and HF 1952 in particular.
