CDT Vote Recommendation to Senate on USA FREEDOM Reauthorization Act

This week the Senate is debating H.R. 6172, the USA FREEDOM Reauthorization Act, along with amendments offered by Senators Leahy and Lee and Senators Wyden and Daines. CDT issued a vote recommendation urging Senators to vote for these amendments.

As amended, this bill will help protect privacy, civil rights and civil liberties by outlawing invasive and ineffective warrantless surveillance, introducing greater accountability and transparency into the use of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) authorities, and by responding effectively to many of the concerns about the use of FISA that have surfaced in recent months.
