CDT Joins Letter Warning Senate Judiciary of Free Expression Risks in Advance of Section 230 Hearing

The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) joined with more than three dozen civil society organizations, academics, and industry groups to send a letter to the Privacy, Technology, & the Law Subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee in advance of a hearing on platform accountability and Section 230.

The letter explains how Section 230 has empowered people worldwide to use the internet to discover and connect with each other. It emphasizes that conversations about Section 230 must account not only for online harms, but also for the role the law has played in fostering freedom of expression and encouraging content moderation.
