CDT Amicus Brief in Google Books Settlement

The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) respectfully submits this brief amicus curiae to support final approval of the Proposed Settlement, and to urge this Court to protect the public’s right to reader privacy in conjunction with the approval.  CDT believes that the Settlement will have a positive impact on public access to information in our society, and that it should be approved.  However, as part of that approval, we believe that the privacy concerns raised by the services enabled by the Proposed Settlement (hereafter referred to as the “New Services”) must also be addressed by the Court.
