20 Civil Society Groups Including CDT Call on DNI to Support Surveillance Transparency   

This week CDT joined a set of 20 civil society organizations from across the political spectrum in calling on Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard to take key measures to support enhanced transparency regarding national security surveillance.

The groups urged DNI Gabbard to declassify a FISA Court opinion that prompted the debate over a problematic expansion to FISA’s definition of “Electronic Communication Service Providers,” as well as to provide an estimate of the number of Americans whose communications are collected by FISA Section 702, a warrantless surveillance authority.
