Testimony Before the Senate Select Intelligence Committee on USA FREEDOM Act

CDT’s Senior Counsel Harley Geiger testified before the US Senate Select Intelligence Committee on the USA FREEDOM Act. Geiger encouraged the Senate to shore up weaknesses in the USA FREEDOM Act and pass legislation that would significantly advance the privacy interests of Americans while protecting national security. He stated his belief that many positive steps have been made and a significant achievement is now within reach, but that obstacles remain to effectively prevent unnecessary mass surveillance.
