Tech Talk: A Busy Summer Update on Privacy & Competition

CDT’s Tech Talk is a podcast where we dish on tech and Internet policy, while also explaining what these policies mean to our daily lives. You can find Tech Talk on SoundCloud iTunes, and Google Play, as well as Stitcher and TuneIn.

What a great episode we have for you featuring two of CDT’s brightest stars!

First, we hear from CDT’s Director of Privacy & Data, Michelle Richardson. She unpacks what the $5 billion dollar fine levied by the Federal Trade Commission against Facebook means and gives an update on where things stand with a federal privacy law in the United States.

After that, we hear from CDT’s Senior Fellow on Competition, Data, and Power, Avery Gardiner. She talks about big tech and antitrust laws. Is there any merit to the increasingly loud calls to break up big tech companies? Avery breaks it down for us in a very CDT nuanced manner.
