CDT’s Patrick McKay Wins ‘Copyright School’ Video Contest

Law clerk Patrick McKay just won the Public Knowledge “Copyright School” Video Challenge. The aim of the competition was to produce a more objective instructional video than YouTube’s “Copyright School.” McKay’s video humorously and succinctly explains the concept of fair use, as well as how to reinstate YouTube videos with DMCA counter-notices. Mehan Jayasuriya, Public Knowledge’s director of outreach and new media, said that McKay did a “fantastic job of explaining the basics of fair use.” The video will be hosted on Public Knowledge’s site to educate users.
