AI and algorithmic systems have been a part of the education sector for many years, but with an increased public awareness of the technology spurred by the release of commercial generative AI tools, the need to guide the responsible use of the technology is more important now than ever.

 

CDT’s Equity in Civic Technology team provides resources shedding light on the most pressing privacy, equity, and civil rights issues related to AI and gives guidance to school leaders on how to ensure AI is used in ways that enhance students’ educational experiences and outcomes, while mitigating risks to their safety and rights.
