CDT Urges Administration To Reconsider '.US' Privacy Decision - CDT is urging the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to reconsider a decision that threatens the privacy of those who own addresses in America's sovereign '.us' Internet domain. In a letter to NTIA chief Michael Gallagher, CDT asked that NTIA, which oversees .us, refine a decision that prohibits people from registering .us addresses privately, through proxy services. These services allow those who are concerned about their personal information being made widely available over the Internet to register that data with a third party instead of posting it publicly. CDT feels this is reasonable, market-based approach to protecting privacy online. September 22, 2005
